Paul Pogba: His discovery of mate thanks to Rojo

Mate is now a very popular drink among footballers, like Antoine Griezmann . The French national team, and especially Paul Pogba, are no exception.

A year-long wait before being able to taste the famous drink

It was at Manchester United that Pogba discovered mate , surrounded by the other South American players of the Red Devils (Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, etc.). He explains in an interview in Spanish (and with a very good level of Spanish!) how his discovery of mate happened.

• And you already mentioned mate. They told me you asked him for some for a long time. How long did you ask Rojo for mate without him giving you any?
• It's something incredible. I asked him for it last year. I had to wait a year to get my hands on it... A year!
• Rojo's mate?
• Rojo's mate. Every day, "Marcos, where's the mate?" - "Oh, I forgot, I forgot." Then the next day, "Marcos, where's the mate?" - "Oh, I forgot, I forgot." A year later, I was finally able to drink mate!
• And was it good or not?
• Perfect !
• Did you like it?
• Yes, I liked it. But before, I didn't know how to prepare it. Sergio and Marcos showed me how, and now I do it perfectly.
• I was told that you gave him your first mate, and the water was cold.
• It was cold because it had been sitting there for a long time. But normally it's not cold. I don't drink it cold.

Finally, it seems that Paul has become a true devotee... Since he even made the cover of GQ with a mate gourd !
