Are you used to shopping in large stores, and would you like to find mate in your usual store? Unfortunately, the offer of mate is still very scarce in supermarkets.
The purchase of mate at Carrefour is limited. Currently, it is possible to find some flavored drinks based on mate in stores, but not mate as such.

There are a few exceptions of Leclerc stores that are starting to stock mate on the shelves, but it remains very local and sporadic.
It is possible to buy mate at Biocoop. Most stores in the network offer mate in 100g bags. A good solution for emergencies, but we do not recommend it for regular consumption, as mate is quite expensive there (+50€/kg).
Currently, Nature & Découvertes stores do not sell mate. However, it is possible to find mate, gift sets, or accessories on the Nature & Découvertes website.

Today, several specialized brands exist and market a range of mate through their website (La Bombilla being one of the first). Some are reliable, others are less so.
Unless you have a South American grocery store near you, if you want choice, it is online that you will find the best mates at the best price. Either on a specialized site or on Amazon.
You can find everything on Amazon, and mate is no exception. It is possible to find certain brands of mate (La Bombilla included, but it is always preferable to order directly from our site) as well as basic accessories.
Most tea and infusion brands now offer mate (e.g., Palais des Thés, Kusmi Tea, Thé de la Pagode...).
On the other hand, most of these brands are not specialists in mate, and often market it as tea. However, it is a very particular drink, very different from tea.
As a result, the mates offered by generalist tea brands are often basic, expensive, and not suitable for traditional consumption.
If you have a favorite mate, and you can buy it in stores near you, that's the best.
