Quality remains a golden rule at La Bombilla and this pack contains all the essentials to discover mate: A bag of Original Organic mate 500G, a classic bombilla, and a black double-walled insulated stainless steel gourd.

Our mate has a unique and balanced taste, halfway between green tea and coffee.

In stainless steel, this gourd has a double insulating wall to prevent burning your fingers and is very easy to clean (machine washing possible). Low price but maximum quality! We do not recommend natural gourds made from squash if you are new to the world of mate as they are items that require specific maintenance to remain in good condition.

Grown in the shade, harvested every 24 months, the Original maté has a balanced taste, halfway between green tea and coffee. Unlike 90% of maté brands, at La Bombilla, all our matés are unsmoked: They are dried using an innovative hot air process.

The contact between smoke and maté during the drying stage is controversial for obvious health reasons.

Mate, the perfect alternative to coffee

Step 1: Heat water to 80°C

One must fill their gourd to 2/3 to prepare a mate, which is equivalent to 25g per mate. A 500g bag allows for the preparation of ~20 traditional mates and 70 mates in classic infusion. The mate is therefore much more economical than tea and coffee while possessing more virtues.

Important: Each mate can be re-infused about ten times.

▶ Health

The vast majority of the market's mate is dried over a wood fire. However, this method is known to produce PAHs, toxic substances suspected of being carcinogenic in high doses.

▶ Taste

Wood-fired smoked mates have a much stronger, raw taste. Drying without smoke allows for a much more balanced flavor.

Mate can cause undesirable effects if consumed in excess, like any caffeinated product. As long as mate is consumed in moderation (up to 1L of mate per day), this drink proves to be a true source of benefits.

As a precaution, it is not recommended for children, people with hypertension, and pregnant women (or those who are breastfeeding) to consume mate.

Our mate comes from Brazil, in the Paraná region. Before finding it, we traveled through Brazil and Argentina, the two largest producers of mate in the world, where we covered nearly 5000 km and met about ten producers. Why? To find an exceptional mate with a unique taste!

le goût: je m’attendais à quelque chose de plus amer, d’après les divers avis que j’avais pu lire, mais au final pas tant que ça, le goût est agréable, surprenant au début quand on est habitué au café.
Les effets: je me sent beaucoup moins fatigué et ressens moins l’envie de boire du café au travail. J’envisage même de prendre le Thermos pour emmener mon maté au travail.
