A truly awesome calabash!
Made of stainless steel, this calabash has a double insulating wall to prevent burning your fingers and is very easy to clean (machine washing possible)
We do not recommend natural gourd calabashes if you are new to the world of mate because they are objects that require specific maintenance to remain in good condition.
Step 1: Heat water to 80°C
Step 2: Fill your calabash two-thirds full with mate leaves and form a well with your yerba
Step 3: Place the bombilla while covering its end and then pour the hot water.
▶ Health
The vast majority of the market's mate is dried over a wood fire. However, this method is known to produce PAHs, toxic substances suspected of being carcinogenic in high doses.
▶ Taste
Wood-fired smoked mates have a much stronger, raw taste. Drying without smoke allows for a much more balanced flavor.
As a precaution, it is not recommended for children, people with hypertension, and pregnant women (or those who are breastfeeding) to consume mate.
Our mate comes from Brazil, in the Paraná region. Before finding it, we traveled through Brazil and Argentina, the two largest producers of mate in the world, where we covered nearly 5000 km and met about ten producers. Why? To find an exceptional mate with a unique taste!
